Rockstar has shown pistols, revolvers, rifles, SMGs, shotguns, explosives and melee weapons — but which names are officially confirmed and which are just fan guesses? Here's the full breakdown.
GTA 6 is shaping up to have a much more physical and deliberate combat system than GTA 5. Rockstar has already shown pistols, revolvers, assault rifles, SMGs, shotguns, sniper-style rifles, explosives and several objects that could function as melee weapons.
The important part is separating what Rockstar has actually confirmed from what players have identified by appearance.
Rockstar has explicitly named the Girardi ES9, Klose K17 and Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers in official edition material. Other names, including the Duke 556, Moreland 850, Mustang .357 and Nipper .38, can be read or have been identified from official gameplay, artwork and screenshots. Beyond those, several weapons clearly resemble real-world MP5, AK, AR, M249 and tactical shotgun designs, but Rockstar has not officially given all of them those names.
With GTA 6 scheduled for November 19, 2026, we now have enough official footage to build a fairly detailed picture of its arsenal and, more importantly, how Rockstar is changing the way guns actually work.
| Category | Examples | Availability |
|----------|----------|--------------|
| Handguns | Pistols, revolvers | Common |
| Rifles | Assault rifles | Ammu-Nation |
| SMGs | Submachine guns | Ammu-Nation |
| Shotguns | Pump, auto | Ammu-Nation |
| Heavy | RPG, minigun | Rare, late-game |
| Melee | Knife, bat | Various |
| Throwables | Grenades, molotovs | Ammu-Nation |
GTA 6 Weapons List: What Is Actually Confirmed?
There is no official complete GTA 6 weapons list yet. Rockstar has instead revealed the arsenal gradually through Trailer 1, [Trailer 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKUW7_I4QwA, promotional screenshots, Ultimate Edition material and the August 2026 Extended Look.
That creates three different levels of certainty.
| Weapon | Type | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Girardi ES9 | Pistol | Officially named by Rockstar |
| Klose K17 | Pistol | Officially named by Rockstar |
| Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers | Revolver | Officially named by Rockstar |
| Duke 556 | Assault rifle | Name shown in official gameplay |
| Moreland 850 | Shotgun | Name shown/reported from official gameplay |
| Mustang .357 | Revolver | Name visible in official imagery |
| Nipper .38 | Compact handgun | Name identified from official artwork |
| Capo-branded pistol | Handgun | Weapon shown, full model name unclear |
| MP5-style SMG | Submachine gun | Shown, community/press identification |
| AK-style rifle | Assault rifle | Shown, exact name unconfirmed |
| AR-pattern carbines | Rifle/carbine | Shown, exact models unconfirmed |
| Double-barrel shotgun | Shotgun | Shown |
| Tactical semi-auto shotgun | Shotgun | Shown, model name unconfirmed |
| Bolt-action rifle | Rifle | Shown, exact model unconfirmed |
| Grenade launcher | Heavy weapon | Clearly shown |
| Light machine gun | Machine gun | Shown, exact name unconfirmed |
| Molotov cocktail | Throwable | Shown in gameplay |
The distinction matters. A firearm appearing in Rockstar footage confirms that some version of it exists in GTA 6. It does not automatically confirm the real-world firearm name that players think inspired it.
GTA 6 Handguns and Revolvers
Handguns are currently the best-documented part of the GTA 6 arsenal.
Girardi ES9
The Girardi ES9 is associated with Jason Duval and is one of the few weapons Rockstar has named directly. Its design is widely compared with the Beretta 92 family, although that real-world comparison comes from visual analysis rather than an official Rockstar description.
Rockstar's Ultimate Edition material includes a personalized version of Jason's Girardi ES9, which suggests weapon finishes and character-specific variants will play some role in customization.
Klose K17
Lucia Caminos is associated with the Klose K17, another handgun officially named by Rockstar.
Earlier fan descriptions have compared it with several compact and polymer-framed pistols, but Rockstar has not identified a real-world equivalent. Calling it a specific Bersa, Glock or SIG model as fact would therefore go beyond what has actually been confirmed.
Like Jason's ES9, Lucia's K17 receives a personalized variant with the Ultimate Edition.
Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers
The Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers are among the clearest officially named GTA 6 weapons. They are included with the Ultimate Edition and shown with distinctive personalized finishes.
The design resembles a large-frame double-action revolver, but Rockstar has not attached a real-world manufacturer or model to it.
Mustang .357
The Mustang .357 appears in official imagery involving Leonida bikers and carries Duke Arms branding.
Its heavy revolver shape has drawn comparisons with the Colt Python. That also gives it an obvious visual connection to the powerful revolvers associated with 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, although it is better described as a spiritual callback than a confirmed returning weapon.
Nipper .38
The compact Nipper .38 has also been identified from official GTA 6 artwork. Lucia is shown carrying the small sidearm, giving GTA 6 another handgun option distinct from her K17.
Rockstar has not published damage, magazine capacity, price or other statistics for it.
Capo Pistol
A handgun carrying Capo branding appears with Raul Bautista and has also been associated with Jason's liquor-store robbery footage.
The important distinction is that Capo appears to be an in-universe manufacturer or brand. The exact model name of the pistol has not been officially established. Its overall design resembles a modernized 1911-style handgun, but that remains a visual comparison.
GTA 6 Rifles, SMGs and Shotguns

Rockstar has shown considerably more long guns than it has officially named.
The Duke 556 is one of the strongest examples. Its name appears during the Extended Look when a rifle can be picked up during combat. Other Duke-branded carbines appear throughout Rockstar's promotional material, suggesting Duke Arms will be one of Leonida's major fictional firearms manufacturers.
Several SMGs have also appeared. One strongly resembles an MP5-pattern submachine gun, while other compact firearms have been compared with MAC and Uzi-style designs. Both Jason and Lucia have been shown using automatic weapons during criminal jobs, but most of these guns still lack confirmed in-game names.
Shotguns appear to have a larger role than they did in many GTA 5 encounters.
The Moreland 850 appears during the Extended Look and has been identified as a pump-action shotgun. Rockstar also shows another pump shotgun being handled one-handed by Lucia while she carries loot with her other arm. Double-barrel and tactical semi-automatic shotgun designs have appeared elsewhere in official footage and screenshots.
Long-range firearms include bolt-action and scoped rifles seen in Leonida's rural environments. Some have been compared with Remington 700 and M1A-style designs, but those comparisons should not be mistaken for official GTA 6 weapon names.
Heavy Weapons, Explosives and Throwables
GTA 6 is not abandoning the series' heavier firepower.
Trailer 2 shows Lucia firing a grenade launcher at pursuing police vehicles, making the launcher one of the easiest heavy weapons to verify from official footage. A large light machine gun also appears during the Phil's Ammu-Nation commercial, although its exact in-game model has not been confirmed.
The Extended Look also shows Molotov cocktails and explosive combat scenarios. Grenades and other throwable equipment have appeared or been reported around the gameplay showcase, but Rockstar has not yet published a final throwable inventory.
Expect the complete explosives category to become clearer once the game launches and Ammu-Nation's stock can be inspected directly.
What Melee Weapons Are in GTA 6?
This is one area where many existing GTA 6 weapon lists overstate what has been confirmed.
Official Rockstar material has shown objects including a baseball bat, hammer, pool cue, minigolf club and switchblade. Lucia is also shown using close-range contextual combat during the Extended Look, including an environmental interaction involving a stiletto heel.
However, seeing a pool cue or golf club in a screenshot does not prove that it will appear as a permanent weapon-wheel item.
For now, the safest conclusion is that GTA 6 clearly expands close-quarters and environmental combat, while the final list of equipable melee weapons remains unknown.
Jason and Lucia Have Different Signature Weapons
Rockstar is giving Jason and Lucia noticeably different combat identities.
Jason's personalized sidearm is the Girardi ES9, while Lucia's is the Klose K17. Rockstar's Ultimate Edition content reinforces that distinction by providing individualized weapon variants for both protagonists.
The gameplay presentation also shows differences in how characters handle weapons depending on the situation.
Lucia can fire a shotgun one-handed while carrying stolen goods in her other hand. Jason and Lucia can pick weapons up during combat, switch between firearms and interact with equipment without the older GTA feeling of carrying an invisible armory at all times.
That is a meaningful shift. Weapons are becoming physical objects connected to what the character is carrying and doing rather than simply icons stored inside a menu.
How GTA 6 Gunplay Is Different From GTA 5
The weapon list is only half the story. GTA 6's combat appears to have been redesigned around slower, more deliberate shooting.
Preview coverage reports that GTA 6 moves away from GTA 5's strong default lock-on behavior. Free aiming plays a larger role, while adjustable aim assistance or aim "stickiness" still helps controller users. Rockstar has not published the complete aiming settings, so the exact launch options remain subject to change.
Recoil also appears more important. Preview reports describe automatic rifles as harder to control during sustained fire, making short bursts and measured shots more useful than simply holding the trigger.
The Extended Look also reveals several broader combat changes.
Dropped weapons remain available to grab during fights. Weapon handling changes according to what a character is carrying. The HUD includes separate Health, Stamina and Focus systems, while Focus can slow combat and help identify vulnerable areas on targets and vehicles.
Vehicle damage looks more granular as well. Tires, body panels and other components react visibly to gunfire, making shooting during chases more tactical than simply emptying magazines into a health bar.
GTA 6 Has a New Weapon and Inventory System
GTA 5 essentially allowed Michael, Franklin and Trevor to carry an entire gun shop.
GTA 6 is moving toward a more restricted loadout.
The Extended Look shows a redesigned weapon interface with separate Weapons and Items sections. Firearms, equipment and consumables occupy defined slots rather than being buried inside GTA 5's enormous circular arsenal.
Preview reporting also points to limits on the number of long guns Jason and Lucia can carry at once. That would force players to think about a loadout before a major robbery instead of bringing every rifle, shotgun and launcher they own.
This could become one of the biggest differences between GTA 5 and GTA 6. Your choice of pistol, long gun and equipment may actually matter before a mission begins.
Focus Could Change How GTA 6 Shootouts Work
GTA 6's new Focus system deserves particular attention.
The Extended Look shows a dedicated Focus meter alongside health and stamina. During combat, the ability slows the action and highlights vulnerable areas, creating obvious similarities with Red Dead Redemption's Dead Eye system and Michael's slow-motion shooting ability in GTA 5.
The key difference is how it fits the rest of GTA 6's combat design.
If standard aiming is less dependent on hard lock-on, Focus becomes a tactical resource rather than simply a cinematic power. Players may save it for drivers, tires, exposed enemies or other high-value targets during difficult encounters.
Civilians and Police React Differently to Weapons
Walking through Vice City with a gun in your hand may have consequences even before you pull the trigger.
Preview coverage describes civilians reacting to visible firearms, while GTA 6's broader crime system places more emphasis on witnesses and what police actually know about the suspect.
The Extended Look also confirms the return of a six-star wanted level, replacing GTA 5's five-star maximum. Police can build information around the people, clothing and vehicles involved in crimes rather than behaving as if every officer instantly knows exactly who committed an offence.
That makes holstering a weapon, changing appearance and avoiding witnesses potentially as important as winning the gunfight itself.
Where Can You Buy Guns in GTA 6?

Ammu-Nation is officially returning.
Trailer 2 includes an in-universe television commercial for Phil's Ammu-Nation at roughly the 2:09 mark. Phil stands in front of racks packed with rifles, shotguns and other firearms while enthusiastically advertising the store.
Rockstar has not yet confirmed GTA 6 weapon prices, progression requirements or the exact inventory sold at each branch.
Trailer 1 also shows the Port Gellhorn Pawn & Gun, which suggests Leonida may offer alternatives to the traditional Ammu-Nation chain.
That could fit GTA 6's broader economy well. Players may end up buying standard firearms from Ammu-Nation while finding different weapons, stolen goods or cheaper equipment through pawn shops and less formal dealers.
Our GTA 6 money guide covers the robbery and fencing systems that should help fund those purchases.
Which GTA 6 Weapons Should You Get First?
No reliable weapon tier list exists yet because nobody has final damage, accuracy, recoil, price or unlock data.
Still, the weapon classes Rockstar has shown already point toward a practical early-game setup.
A dependable pistol such as Jason's Girardi ES9 or Lucia's Klose K17 should cover routine encounters without taking up a long-gun slot. A pump-action shotgun looks ideal for stores, interiors and close-range robberies, while a Duke 556-style rifle should make more sense once larger shootouts and police encounters become common.
Long-range rifles could become particularly useful outside Vice City, especially around the rural, hunting and swamp regions visible across the Leonida map.
That is strategy based on the systems Rockstar has shown, not a confirmed best-weapons ranking.
Will GTA 6 Have Weapon Customization?
Some level of weapon personalization is already confirmed.
The Ultimate Edition includes personalized versions of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17, plus the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers. Rockstar artwork also shows different finishes, optics and weapon configurations.
What Rockstar has not revealed is the complete customization system.
We still do not know whether GTA 6 will use GTA 5-style Ammu-Nation upgrades, GTA Online-style Mk II systems, a dedicated gunsmith interface or something closer to Red Dead Redemption 2.
How Many Weapons Are in GTA 6?
Rockstar has not announced a final number.
Roughly 20 distinct firearms can currently be separated across official trailers, screenshots and gameplay depending on how similar variants are counted. That number grows when throwables and possible melee weapons are included. PC Gamer's pre-release analysis, for example, identified 19 distinct firearms from official material.
Claims that GTA 6 has exactly 30, 40 or any other fixed number of weapons should therefore be treated cautiously until Rockstar publishes the complete arsenal or the game launches.

Final Word
GTA 6 is not simply adding more guns to GTA 5's formula.
Everything Rockstar has shown points toward weapons having more physical weight in the game. Jason and Lucia have identifiable sidearms, long guns occupy meaningful loadout space, dropped weapons can become part of a fight, characters handle firearms differently when carrying loot, recoil matters more and the new Focus system adds another layer to precision shooting.
The final weapon count is still unknown, and many familiar names circulating online are real-world comparisons rather than official GTA 6 labels.
What is already clear is that gunfights in Leonida are being built around weapon choice, positioning, recoil, inventory limits and consequences, rather than simply opening a giant weapon wheel and selecting whatever has the highest damage stat.
With GTA 6 launching on November 19, 2026, the full arsenal is almost here.
