GTA 6 Trailer 2 named Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos and revealed their Bonnie-and-Clyde story in detail. Here's every character, scene, and gameplay hint from the 3-minute trailer.
No announcement. No countdown. Rockstar just dropped it.
On May 6, 2025, a nearly 3-minute trailer appeared out of nowhere, and it did what the first one didn't: it gave both protagonists full names — Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — and laid out their criminal-romantic partnership in detail. We met key supporting characters including Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, and Raul Bautista. We got real story specifics: an "easy score" gone wrong that drags the pair into a conspiracy across Leonida. And like Trailer 1, it was captured on a standard PS5.
Rockstar confirmed the release date, the roughly 3-minute runtime, the protagonist names, the story synopsis, the soundtrack, and the PS5 capture. The reported 60M+ YouTube views in 24 hours comes from outlet figures — exact numbers vary by source.
Timing is everything, and Rockstar knew it.
Trailer 2 arrived with zero advance notice on May 6, 2025 — just days after Rockstar announced the game's first delay, pushing the release from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. The surprise drop was widely read as Rockstar softening the delay news with new footage. Honestly, it worked. Nobody was talking about the delay that week.
Key timeline:

Trailer 2 finally named both protagonists and gave them real backstories. Here's what we learned.
We meet Jason fixing roof leaks on a run-down house, and his throwaway line — "just fixing some leaks" — is a deliberate nod to the September 2022 source-code hack. A wink from Rockstar to the fans who followed the leaks. We love that kind of thing.
Jason works for Brian Heder, who sends him to collect checks from properties — and we see him physically confronting someone over rent money. Rockstar's backstory fills in the rest: Jason grew up around small-time grifters in the Leonida Keys, escaped that life through a stint in the Army, and now runs jobs for local drug runners. He wants an easy life but keeps getting pulled back into crime. The trailer shows him working out, running corner-store errands, living a grounded working-class life. He's the relatable half of this duo.
Lucia walks out of Leonida Penitentiary at the trailer's start, with Jason waiting outside. She's free — but on parole with an ankle monitor, performing community service. Freedom comes with conditions.
Her backstory: her father taught her to fight from the time she could walk, and fighting for her family put her behind bars. Her mother dreamed of the good life since their days in Liberty City. And now, as she puts it, she's fiercely committed to her plan — no matter what it takes.
Rockstar's official synopsis: after an "easy score" goes wrong, Jason and Lucia end up "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America," caught in a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever to survive.
Rockstar also confirmed something interesting about the romance: it's optional, and it gives no direct gameplay advantage. But it does affect the story. And ignoring a partner's messages can weaken the relationship. Trust as a gameplay system — that's new territory for GTA.

Beyond the leads, Trailer 2 introduced the supporting cast — and it's a strong lineup.
Brian Heder is Jason's boss: a landlord and veteran drug smuggler operating in the Leonida Keys, sending Jason out on collection jobs. Cal Hampton is Jason's friend, a conspiracy-obsessed loner who'll presumably provide both comic relief and questionable advice. Raul Bautista is a seasoned bank robber — some outlets spell it "Batista" — and clearly a big player. Then there's the music-world contingent: Boobie Ike, a street-smart entrepreneur who runs the Only Raw Records label; Dre'Quan Priest, a driven music producer in Boobie's orbit; and Real Dimez, the rap duo (Bae-Luxe and Roxy) who are social-media sensations signed to Boobie's label.

Four songs made the cut:
The mix of 80s pop, Haitian kompa (Zenglen), and country says a lot about Leonida's cultural melting pot. And it continues GTA's long tradition of era-defining licensed music — the soundtrack curation is half the identity of these games.
| Key Scene | What It Reveals | |-----------|----------------| | Jason & Lucia reunion | Their relationship drives the story | | Heist planning | Multi-stage robberies return | | Leonida landscapes | Diverse environments across the state | | Police response | Enhanced wanted system |
The trailer opens on Jason's working-class routine: fixing a roof, collecting debts for Brian, hitting the gym, running errands. This is Rockstar grounding him as a relatable protagonist before the criminal escalation begins. Smart storytelling — we care about him before the chaos.
Jason waits outside Leonida Penitentiary as Lucia walks free — ankle monitor and all. Their reunion is tender but tense. She's out, but she's not free. Not really.
Then the montage kicks in. Armed robberies build in scale: convenience store hits echoing Trailer 1, then a bank vault physically towed away by a vehicle. And then there's the shot everyone talked about — Lucia wielding an automatic grenade launcher. Honestly, this shot gave us chills. It might be the single most replayed frame of the trailer.
Pay attention to this one: Jason is shown using a smartphone to hack security systems. That reads less like set dressing and more like a real gameplay mechanic — phone-based hacking as something you'll actually do.
The trailer confirms new locations on screen: the Vice City beachfront, the Grassrivers wetlands, the Leonida Keys, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. The geography is coming into focus.
Between the action, the trailer makes room for the relationship: yacht parties, jet skis, drinking on a pier, arguments, reconciliation. It's selling the romance as much as the crime. That's the bet Rockstar is making here.
For a cinematic trailer, Trailer 2 smuggled in plenty of gameplay signals. For starters, Phil's Ammu-Nation is back — the franchise's iconic gun store returns. Then there's Jason's smartphone hack of a security system, which reads less like set dressing and more like an interactive mechanic you'll actually use.
The heist scenes show Jason and Lucia operating as a team in real time, which points toward real dual-protagonist heists rather than just scripted story beats. Lucia's ankle monitor isn't just character detail either — later Rockstar interviews confirmed it plays a major story role. And one last thing worth knowing: all footage was captured on base PS5, which tells you the visual target for launch hardware.
Deeper gameplay systems — character switching, the Heat system, robbery tiers — were revealed later in the Netflix Extended Look. See our gameplay guide.
May 6, 2025, with zero announcement — dropped out of nowhere just days after Rockstar delayed the game to May 26, 2026. The timing was not a coincidence.
Nearly 3 minutes — roughly twice the length of Trailer 1's 91 seconds. Rockstar clearly had more to say this time.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, both confirmed in Trailer 2. Lucia appeared (unnamed) in Trailer 1.
"Hot Together" (Pointer Sisters), "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" (Wang Chung), "Child Support" (Zenglen), and "Talkin' to Myself Again" (Tammy Wynette). Quite the range — 80s pop to Haitian kompa to country.
Yes — Rockstar confirmed it. The Jason/Lucia romance is optional, gives no direct gameplay advantage, but it does affect the story. Ignore your partner's messages and the relationship weakens.
No — like Trailer 1, it's cinematic. Both trailers were captured on PS5, but the first real gameplay footage didn't arrive until the Netflix Extended Look (August 2026).
Cal Hampton is one of GTA 6's most distinctive supporting characters: Jason's paranoid friend, Brian Heder's associate and a man who would rather monitor Coast Guard radio from home than chase a bigger score. Here is what Rockstar actually confirms, plus the theories that should stay labelled as theories.
